Grand Rapids’ newest music venue is something to behold. Featuring stunning Art Deco-style architecture and a top-of-the-line sound system, 20 Monroe Live is sure to provide a unique and intimate experience while viewing your favorite musical act. Take a seat and listen up to what we have to share about Grand Rapids’ newest performance venue.
Realizing there is a gap between the largest area venue (Van Andel Arena) and smaller area venues, such as the Pyramid Scheme and the Intersection, the owners of 20 Monroe Live figured out that Grand Rapids is missing out on acts that draw medium-sized crowds. Realizing that many acts may need to take a stop between monster Detroit and Chicago shows, they realized Grand Rapids was a perfect stopping point. The investors behind 20 Monroe Live teamed up with the world-renowned House of Blues and LiveNation companies to operate the venue. 20 Monroe Live offers a more intimate setting with superb acoustics and can hold upwards of 2,500 attendees.
In February of 2017, the highly-anticipated 20 Monroe Live opened with an inaugural show of jazz and funk featuring New Orleans native Trombone Shorty. Some notable past acts have featured Lynyrd Skynyrd, Lauryn Hill, The Verve Pipe, Peter Frampton, The Flaming Lips, and Primus. Notable future performances include Flogging Molly, The Violent Femmes, Tesla, Buddy Guy, Gary Clark and the Descendants.
There really is not a bad seat in 20 Monroe Live. From the general admission, standing-only main floor area, to the seated upper balcony and mezzanine, the architects of 20 Monroe Live made sure that everyone can hear the same sounds coming from the speakers. We are very excited to see the VIP club open on the second floor and the beer garden open to cement 20 Monroe Live’s position as an entertainment leader in Grand Rapids.
