If you’ll be in the vicinity of Grand Rapids this weekend, there will be plenty of opportunities to have some fun. You won’t need to head out of town to have a good time. Two things not to miss out on are the Auto Show and a Super Bowl party at one of the venues downtown.
The 12th Annual Michigan International Auto Show is going on Thursday-Sunday at DeVos Place. Check out over 300 new autos of all kinds- hybrids to SUVs, vans to sports cars. Manufacturers from around the world will be at the show with plenty of information, so if you’re in the market for a new vehicle, this is an exhibit not to miss.
A returning highlight from the previous year is the Million Dollar Motorway, a display of cars valued at over $100,000. This will include a few Aston Martins, a Lamborghini and Bentleys. Two very cool giveaways at the show are a 2010 Chevy Camero and 2 tickets to the NCAA Big Ten Basketball Tournement. Adult tickets are $10, Children 6-14 are$4, those 5 and under are free.
The Indianapolis Colts and New Orleans Saints battle it for the title of Super Bowl XLIV Champs this Sunday, February 7. A variety of Grand Rapids restaurants are having a Super Bowl specials to enjoy while watching the game. Three places to consider are:
- 25 Kitchen + Bar is fairly new on the GR scene. It’s offering a $5 Tailgate Buffet along with drink specials. Giveaways and 17 plasma screens add to the fun, downtown atmosphere.
- The French Quarter located at 243 Commerce Ave SW Grand Rapids, MI 49503 is a place to bring the family in for fun and Southern Cuisine, very fitting for the Saints’s fans out there. Starting at 12:30, you can get 40 cent wings, $5.99 Catfish, oxtail, perch, cornish hen and more.
- Vitale’s of Ada, located at 400 Ada Drive SE Ada, MI 49301 is having a pizza and BBQ buffet for only $9.99 with soda included, plus plenty of drink specials. They’re offering up a 19″ Plasma TV as one of the many door prizes.

A few other events to check out are:
- Go Red- An event benefitting the American Heart Association will be hosted by McFadden’s on Friday the 5th. There will be complimentary hors d’oeuvres, a chocolate fountain, special menu and drink specials.
- Ethnic Heritage Festival- Various cultures will be represented through music, dance, crafts, displays and food at the GR Public Museum. Admission is free!
- Great Scrapbook Event- Head to the Delta Plex if scrapbooking is your thing. Vendors, classes and networking opportunities will all be available. Admission is $5.00/person.
